We uncovered the stunning landscape of Mbeya while working with a public-private partnership for agricultural development in 2016. Mbeya town was a bustling hub of activity and the surrounding highlands a sea of green. Chilly at night because of it's altitude, it's also great for growing coffee and tea. Coincidentally, the coffee reminded us a lot of a black tea with a stunning complexity when we roast it as a lighter medium roast. This smooth, soul-warming coffee hails from the small coffee lots of the Usongwe and Shiviwaka cooperatives in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania near Mbeya, most farmers in this region are subsistence farmers and rely on coffee production as their main income. We're committed to finding outstanding coffees that also have a substantial impact on local communities. This one was a no-brainer, we loved the coffee and the region from the start.
